Who we are...

Janet Grand is no stranger to the world of natural history - she has been President of the Orillia Naturalists Club, is Past President and founder of the Couchiching Conservancy, and has worked for several provincial and national environmental organizations. She has worked as a consultant in the natural heritage protection field for over 20 years.


Ron Reid is an environmental consultant and writer based in Washago, Ontario, as well as the occasional assistant, advisor, and birdhouse-builder for The Bird House. He has served as coordinator of the International Alvar Conservation Initiative, advisor to the Royal Commission on the Future of the Toronto Waterfront, and coordinator of the Muskoka Heritage Areas Program. He is particularly known for his work with land trusts and regional strategic planning. He has co-authored three books, as well as numerous technical reports and newspaper and magazine articles. He is currently Executive Director of the Couchiching Conservancy.
